Fund Assoc. Prof. Christian Takov
Christian Takov was born on November 7, 1965 in Sofia. In 1984 he graduated from high school with a gold medal. He completed his military service at the Reserve Officer School in Shumen (1984–1986). He studied law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and graduated with honors in 1990. Since 1992 he has been teaching civil, family and commercial law at Sofia University. He was also a teacher at the Veliko Tarnovo Universityand and at the New Bulgarian University, where from 1993 to 1997 he was a part-time lecturer in family and contract law. In 1994-1995 he specialized at the University of Hamburg, where he obtained the degree of Legum magister (LL.M.), and in 1997 he defended the degree "Doctor" in law. In 2007 he received his habilitation and since then, until the end of his life, he has been an Associate Professor of civil, family and commercial law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. In parallel with his teaching career, Christian Takov, at various times, was a legal consultant and advisor at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, arbitrator (1994-2014) and Chairman (2014-2017) of the Arbitration Court, expert in the Ministry of Justice and in the Max-Planck-Institut, member of the Advisory Council on Legislation. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Post-Privatization Control Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria (2007-2008). In the period 2012–2017 he was a legal advisor to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria. Apart from being a lawyer, lecturer and expert in a number of authoritative organizations and higher state institutions, Christian Takov is a bright figure in modern Bulgarian law, a prominent university lecturer, a person with direct participation in building modern civil society in Bulgaria. Christian Takov died in Sofia on July 11, 2017.
In August 2018, the heirs of Christian Takov: his daughter Galya Takova, her mother Assoc. Prof. Boryana Museva, and Mrs. Galya Yoncheva - the mother of Assoc. Prof. Takov - donated his archival materials to New Bulgarian University. The donated archive contains documents from the scientific, teaching, official and public activities of Assoc. Prof. Takov, illustrative and audio-visual materials, books from his personal library. From the biographical documents can be traced the indisputable confidence with which Christian Takov overcomes the challenges in his life since school age - a brilliant graduate of the German language school, passionate in his hobby - photography, later an excellent student at the Faculty of Law. There are also notes for his lectures, abstracts, questionnaires and tests present the documents from the teaching activity of Assoc. Prof. Takov, materials from his habilitation - his academic development, variants of his legal texts in Bulgarian and German - his scientific activity. The handwritten notes for public lectures, for appearances before various media, some of them conducted in the last months of his life, are proof of the active public activity, which contributed to the additional recognition of the lawyer and lecturer Assoc. Prof. Christian Takov. The photos in the archive show Assoc. Prof. Takov in a family setting, speaking in front of an audience, during his travels related to specializations and participation in international scientific forums, during various public events. Here are the photographs illustrating the habit of Assoc. Prof. Takov to stand alone behind the lens - dozens of his landscape photographs, photos of random people who came before his eyes during his travels. Nearly 80 are the donated books - part of the library of Christian Takov: various editions of Bulgarian laws, all stamped with his personal bookplate, and some of them - with notes and additions made by his hand. The music school with selected works by JS Bach among these books is proof of another hobby of Assoc. Prof. Takov - music. There is a strong interest in this archive by the Department of Law, on whose initiative room 207 in Building I of NBU was named after Assoc. Prof. Christian Takov and officially opened on November 7, 2018.
